The Measure (Al-Mīzān)
and gives good tidings to the believers who do righteous deeds that will have a great reward“— Qur’an 17:9
“And the heaven He raised and set the balance,
So that you do not transgress within the balance.
And establish weight in justice and do not make deficient the balance.”
— Qur’an 55:7–9
Justice is not only the pursuit of truth, but the discipline of balance. The Qur’an speaks of Al-Mīzān as a measure set by God — a standard that governs not only scales and weights, but claims, evidence, and conduct.
To exaggerate a claim is to disturb the balance. To conceal evidence is to disturb the balance. To respond with excess — even when one is wronged — is to disturb the balance.
True justice requires restraint. It requires that testimony be given as it is, not as one wishes it to be. It requires that harm be addressed without transgression, and that redress remain proportionate to the wrong.
At CCQJAO, Al-Mīzān is not a slogan. It is the measure by which submissions are reviewed, statements are framed, and advocacy is restrained. Where the balance is preserved, justice can stand. Where it is broken, injustice follows — even if the language of justice is used.
